Overview
The pencil hardness tester is a fast, economical and widely trusted way to assess the scratch resistance of paints and coatings — especially important for wood, furniture and automotive finishes that must keep their looks through everyday use. A set of 20 pencils from 9B to 9H is drawn across the surface at a fixed 750g load and a standard angle, giving consistent results and minimizing operator-to-operator variation. Simple to operate, quick to reload and compliant with international standards such as ASTM D3363 and ISO 15184, it is a familiar choice for both routine QC and R&D on film-forming materials.
